NATIONAL
GATHERING 1993 (as inspired by the Earth Spirituality Gathering)
In the
circle of spirits in the sun, Sunday morning . . .
A – HOT
BLAZING – SUN
A FIELD OF .
. . DREAMS
SURROUNDED
BY trees . . . trees . . . trees . . . trees.
A BURNT
mound towards the – center
Remants of a
T I M E
BEFORE.
We gather R
O U N D
Hands
joining, hands joining,
hands
joining, hands joining,
As the
circle forms.
E X P A N D
I N G to its F U L L E S T
AS THE LAST
ONE . . . . . . . . JOINS
Our voices
(voices) (voices) (voices)
become like
eternal whispers .. . in the wind.
WE BEGIN OUR
DEDICATION:
A voice of
recognition says
WE ARE ALL
HERE TOGETHER
another
voice speaks of sadness
calling,
calling, calling to MOTHER EARTH
and to her
pains
in native
tongue, a chant to guide us,
of OLD WAYS
from the bones of the ones
that are
buried beneath us,
Words of
passion surround us,
as we sense
the interconnectedness.
A story
about Motherly love is told.
Earth waves
flow through
the chants
of Hawaiian ways.
Sayings are
passed through our lips,
Prayers are
said quietly inside,
We all sing
a song to raise our spirits,
Wihle tears
and sweat mix upon our faces.
Children in
the center blacken themselves
with the
ashes of the past as
they are our
reminds of the future.
Heat within,
heat without, as we all glow
One faints .
.. another sings alone
courage and
strength are given,
so we may go
. . .
go beyond
our limitations.
I cry
I rejoice
Greens . . .
envisioning the green . . . future
Believing,
Trusting,
and joining
. . .
in a circle
of earth celebration.
